Why I call myself a word therapist
Hi, I’m Felicity.
In some worlds, I'm a copywriter. In my world, I'm a word therapist.
Before you roll your eyes at this slightly woo and ridiculous self-given title, hear me out! (It's not like I've called myself anything uber-wanky like 'head of vibes').
I've actually had lots of good feedback about proclaiming myself as word therapist. Here's why.
It's true.
Like a good counsellor can help you make sense of your emotions, I make sense of all the ideas, feeling and thoughts you have about your business. I can translate the mess in your head to copy that compels through great storytelling. I'll unravel your thoughts and out them into the right words to tell your story. What a relief!
I understand that copywriting doesn't always come naturally.
I write for a living but find coming up with copy for my own website excruciating. It's no problem writing for other people's businesses, but my own … aaargh! That's because the copy has to be authentic – it has too include quite a lot of yourself, your story and why people should buy your product or use your service. And that's scary because … what if no one likes it? I GET IT and I can help.
