Six home page mistakes you might be making that will impact conversion rates
There are so many ways to lay out and write your home page, but just a few little essential anchors to include that will make the difference between your dream clients sticking with you or getting bored and drifting off. Here are six to be aware of.
Make your home page satisfying. You want them to feel like they came, they saw and they conquered.
Mistake 1: Not including a picture of you.
If you're what you're selling, include a decent photograph so people know who they'll be working with and begin to trust you.
Mistake 2: Waffling on.
Kick off with one killer sentence that introduces you and your business. This sums up for your audience why they need you, making it easy and simple for them to understand in an instant.
Mistake 3: Not making the page satisfying.
It should flow and be easy to find information. Keep asking, is this getting people where they want to go? Their next step should always be clear. You want them to feel like they came, they saw and they conquered.
Mistake 4. Not making the page easy to read.
Long columns of copy are boring, intimidating and overwhelming. Make it easy to digest all your amazing products, services and skills by using lists, illustrative images, subheads, bullet points and even video.
Mistake 5. Not making it mobile friendly.
You probably visit websites more often on your phone than your computer, which means your dream clients will too. So ensure your site is optimised for mobile – make design and copy tweaks for easy reading.
Mistake 6. Not making your CTAs clear.
People need to be told what to do. Make your CTAs impossible to scroll past. They should be bold and contrast to the background. Use fun words (if appropriate) to make the experience more personal.
