Five ways I'm boosting my productivity

dleleting email off my phone has boosted my productivity levels

1 I’ve deleted email off my phone.

I know!!!! Now I actually focus on what I'm supposed to be doing when I'm not at my desk (talking to my child, staring vacantly into space in the supermarket queue, taking a few minutes to breathe if I'm a few minutes early when going somewhere in the car).

2 I’ve blocked out Fridays to work on Haythorn Copy.

It was so nice to do something for my own business rather than someone else's.

3 I’ve forced myself to prioritise moving first thing.

Usually when I get home from the school run, I check emails or put a wash on. This week I made sure I went for a dip, a run or did some yoga before launching into work and keeping family life on track.

4 I do 10 minutes of breathwork every morning.

Alternate nostril breathing is my fave. Calming, anxiety busting and, frankly, bloody amazing. It also helps me release pent-up emotions that appear as if from nowhere. Weird, powerful: essential.

5 I nap if I need to.

Guilt free. 10-20 minutes before the school run is all it takes to drop off and wake up feeling like a new person.

The result?

I feel calmer, in control and like I've actually achieved a lot. Less busyness, more productivity.

To be fair, January has been quiet client-work-wise compared with recent months, so I've had more time for exercise and to work on my business.

But I'm hoping that these new habits will take hold over the next few weeks and become part of my new less, but better intention for 2023.
